Notes on the legal form
The European School Munich is part of the Organisation of the European Schools, founded in 1957. The organisation is a subject of international law. The tasks and legal status of the European School Munich are defined in the Convention defining the Statute of the European Schools of 21 June 1996 and in the Additional Protocol to the Protocol of 13 April 1962 on the setting-up of European Schools. Implementation of the Convention defining the Statute of the European Schools is the responsibility of the Board of Governors of the organisation, which has the necessary decision-making powers for this purpose. Accordingly, the Board of Governors issues guidelines on teaching and its organisation, regulates the employment conditions of the schools’ staff, and determines the General Rules of the Schools and the school fees.
The Secretary-General of the European Schools is their legal representative and is based in Brussels. The European School Munich operates and administers this application as part of fulfilling its statutory tasks.
